Vpr specific activities include

  • modulation of fidelity of viral reverse transcription,
  • nuclear import of the HIV-1 pre-integration complex (PIC),
  • transactivation of the HIV-1 LTR promoter,
  • induction of cell cycle G2 arrest and cell death via apoptosis.
