Twice-Yearly Lenacapavir or Daily F/TAF for HIV Prevention in Women

The landmark PURPOSE 1 study evaluated twice-yearly lenacapavir or daily oral F/TAF [emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide] for HIV prevention in women. Lenacapavir is a first-in-class HIV-1 capsid inhibitor administered subcutaneously every six months. Dr. Maria Corcoran discusses the background for the study before reviewing the study's design, methodology, and results. The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in July 2024.
